Project Contest

aces encourages and supports partnership projects of schools in Central and South Eastern European countries

Call for projects
ended on 15 April 2015

International school partnership projects

School projects such as aces provide a framework for combined learning, training, information, action and new encounters.  Due to the international character, students and teachers not only have a concrete opportunity for intercultural exchange and cooperation, they are also encouraged to look beyond their own lives and horizons and are challenged to question their values and attitudes. Seeing the world through different lenses enhances critical thinking and empathy. Any project can be a field of learning for active participation which is crucial to aces and promotes the idea of equal partners and shared responsibilities.

Call for project proposals 2015

Pupils and teachers of schools in the aces partner countries (see below) were invited to find partner schools in the other countries and to submit a partnership project proposal with their ideas for cooperation. The call addressed schools (all types) in the eligible countries with a target group of pupils aged 12 – 17 years.

The topic of the call

"Embracing solidarity: We care, dare and share!"

All humans are equal, but not all have equal opportunities. aces aims for a society in which people care about each other, not only themselves or their kin, a place where people not only claim their rights but also see the responsibility they have for the wellbeing of all. It is in this spirit that they undertake initiatives for and together with those whose voices often aren't heard. We believe that solidarity is of upmost importance and one of the core values for social cohesion and a more sustainable world.
Further details on the theme here.

The eligible countries were

Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic and Slovenia

The call was open from 15 January until 15 April 2015.

Winning projects announced mid of June 2015

An international selection committee (experts of the educational sector of all 15 partner countries) assessed and selected the best applications. The awarded projects are supported to carry out their cross-border partnership projects with grants (1.600 Euro per participating partner school, 200 Euro additionally for the coordinating school) as well as with additional support structures like international events and online tools.

Network events

International conferences with delegations of the winning project schools in the course of the project implementation phase, e.g. the Kick-Off Meeting and the aces Academy, provide additional support and are great opportunities for further exchange and educational development.
