aces Pulse

"aces pulse" - is giving an impulse to the network and also symbolizes a pulsating vibrant network. This special network activity has been created to invite all old and new network schools with their pupils and teachers to get active on a common task once a year.

The schools of the various aces project years are part of and connected to the network, its visions and activities. The single school partnership projects and the two major aces network activities (Kick-off Meeting and Academy) represent the direct, face-to-face ways of interaction and working together with other network members. "aces pulse" offers another way of participating and exchanging within the network - working on a common task and having a common experience at the same time but in different places and surroundings! Afterwards, at the Academy, the various ways of handling the task and the diversity of outcomes are exchanged.

aces pulse 2: NEW FACES FOR UNPLEASANT PLACES

The results of the second aces pulse activity which was carried out in December 2009 were presented at the aces Academy 2010. Schools had been invited to get active on the topic and to illustrate the outcomes of their thoughts, discussions and actions.

Referring to the overall theme of 2009/20010 “Have your say! Young Europeans shape their future” the second aces pulse focused on the possibilities of shaping our immediate surroundings and to influence and improve our learning and living environment.

The activity included raising awareness about the influence of architecture and other factors like equipment, colour and furniture upon our feelings towards certain places in school that we like or do not like and asked for possibilities of improvement. 39 schools took part in the activity!

The outcomes of the activity were presented using an illustration of the place “before” and “after”, including a description of the necessary changes. Some schools went even further and put their ideas into practice and actually changed their surroundings! See two examples on the right-hand side.
